Some of you may know that this year I have been taking part in a year long online art course called Lifebook 2016 created and hosted by the wonderful Tamara Laporte….this course has been so transformative for me on a deeply personal level…..I had hoped that enrolling would help me develop some artistic skills (although I have crafted for many years I was always totally intimidated by art) but I had no idea it would take me down such a thrilling and thought provoking path…..to realise that we are not the sum of the limitations we put upon ourselves and life has endless possibilities if we open our hearts and minds to the challenge.
Now I am fully aware that I am very much at the beginning of my art ‘journey’ but when I stand back from a completed piece I feel more than a little astounded that I have created that…..and to finally frame them is the final flourish (well maybe getting them on a wall is the real final flourish) but they really come to life as a piece of art once they are framed…..
It’s not often that I am proud of myself…..but, right now, I am Proud!
ok maybe proud and a bit embarrassed and cringing on the inside…..well you can’t expect a miracle….I am British after all xx
Hello….please join me for a crazy, colourful, magical Blog Hop tomorrow hosted and inspired by Vanessa of http://afancifultwist.typepad.com
Well, I had no idea my mostly abused and ignored blog was still active…..Shame on me….how can I share my crafty passion (sounds wrong!) if I don’t bombard you lovely people with constant updates/projects/ideas/pins etc????
I’m not going to make any promises about blogging everyday…but I will aim to resurrect this blog…..(Young Frankenstein anyone?…Abby something Abby Normal!) with occasional insight and inspiration….Peace Out Emma x
My Brush with Brushos
have you discovered Brushos yet? the little pot of colour that packs a BIG punch…..they are a powder form colour crystal and explode with colour when water is added leading to much experimentation ….
here i have sprinkled a large sheet of watercolour paper with sea green and purple and then flicked water over it blending the colours and once dry i have tapped gold mica over with a brush
in this example i have used the same colours but sprinkled the powders onto an acrylic stamp block, spritzed that with water then carefully flipped that over and stamped onto cardstock.
I can’t decide which I prefer but I know I love the possibilities offered by these little pots……play on x
I went to a small papercraft show, Sincerely Yours at Taunton, yesterday and picked up a few goodies…..and I thought I would try making a ‘Haul’ video to show and share what I got there…..hmmm there’s more to this filming lark than meets the eye….Peter Jackson it ain’t…..I hope I can do more and improve as I go….it’s a JOURNEY!!!! No! London to Bristol…that’s a journey…I’m just a twit messing about with technology I can barely comprehend…..anyhoo…..check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czGuVJyNVuI
Since moving 100+ miles from my crafting friends I have struggled to find anyone with similar interests to hang out and craft with……and it’s zapped my mojo….
but I may have found a solution thanks to good ‘ole Facebook….there’s a group of ladies who meet once a month near Bristol…30 mins drive for me…to play with paper/stamps/die cutting and who knows what else?…So off I’ll go tomorrow with my packed lunch and a bag full of high hopes and glue (sniff, sniff) to see what’s what…..hope to take some piccies …wish me luck
